Synthetic dreadlocks
info for
ready for some volume?
If your not ready for permanent dreadlocks or you'd like a different look synthetic dreadlocks are a great option.
They are installed by braiding your natural hair around the dreadlock and secured with a small elastic and thread. Each install lasts 4-8 weeks depending on how quickly your hair grows. Once your natural hair has an inch or so of growth at the root they should be taken out, your hair washed then they can be installed again closer to the root.
Although each install lasts 4-8 weeks the dreads themselves will last a long time so they can be installed over and over again.
They great thing about synthetic dreads is you can create a lot of volume by doubling up the dreads. These are called double ended synthetics and are the ones i most commonly use. Double ended also hide where your hair is braided to the dreadlock more than a single ended dreadlock would.
Other benefits are the amount of colour options available, any bright colour combo you can think of you can achieve. as well as tinsel glitter or even glow in the dark dreads!
As well as dreads from scratch and human hair extensions you don't have to commit to a whole head. Heres some partial dread options below;

frequently asked questions
How are they installed?
synthetic dreads are installed by braiding your natural hair down one side of the synthetic dread and tying with an elastic band.
which colours look best
To make the braid less visible choose a colour that is the same as your natural hair colour. Want a bright or different colour? No problem, choose your natural colour for the top section and Ombre down to the colour of your choice.
I have bought my own dreads will you install them?
Yes! its not a problem if you already have a set of dreads. I will happily install them. Install costs are £30 an hour. Book through synthetic install section and let me know how many dreads you have in the contact form.
how long do they last for?
Each install lasts about 4-12 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows. when your hair grows at the root the dread will move down the hair at which point they need taking out and moved up to the root again. When the synthetics are taken out its a good chance to wash your hair before putting in again. The Dreads themselves are re-usable and can be installed over and over again.
how do i wash my hair?
Wash your hair by diluting shampoo in a squirty bottle and pouring over the roots. Once a week should be the maximum the dreads are washed. Using water that isn't boiling hot will preserve the colours.
How do i take them out?
The dreads can be taken out easily by cutting or pulling the elastics bands out and unravelling your hair from the dread. This can be done easily at home ready for you to wash your hair.. If you would like help I'm happy to do it for you. It will take roughly an hour and cost £30. It also has to be a separate appointment to if you want them re-installed as you have to wash your hair in-between.
how do i pick my colours and styles?
Choose your colours and styles on the synthetic colours page. choose from an array of colours as well as braids, fishtail braids and dreads. message what you'd like on the contact form whilst booking or message me directly.
what's the difference between single and double ended?
Single Ended dreads (S.E.) is one dread with a loop at the top.
Double Ended dreads (D.E.) is two dreads joined by a fold at the top. I prefer D.E as you get twice the volume and the braid is hidden more by dread without a braid ontop.
where are appointments held?
Appointments are held at y home studio at the Hove end of Brighton town centre (bn3 1fq) see address and directions on the contact page.
